Kato Paphos Part 9 - Fabrica Hill
Underground Empire
This isn't a blog about this catacomb. If it was, I could have filled it with a few pages of tunnel pictures, as there are quite a lot of them under the road. I shall include a few here to give you an idea though.
A Maze of Twisty Passages, All Different
Yes, you could have a colossal adventure exploring down here. This path leads to an opening.
Grate Expectations
The opening had passages leaving in all directions, and another leading straight up, to the surface. This begs the question, what was its purpose? Ventilation? A chimney? From the surface I guess you would assume it was a well, but that wouldn't explain all the passages.
So if you are in the area, definitely give these catacombs a look. They get very few visitors but are good fun to explore. There's more too them as well, that they haven't dug up yet. For instance, look at the wall to the left of the staircase. There is a hole in it that must go somewhere.
Towards The Archaeological Park
When you leave the catacomb, to your right you will see another entrance, or rather exit, from the Archaeological Park. Beyond that lies Toumpallos, which is what this catacomb wants to be when it grows up. For more information on that, see the Archaeological Park hub on the TOURISM menu of our website.

The sea plays a big role in the charm of Kato Paphos. In this series we have already seen the main Sea Front, but in this article I thought it was time to take a look at the Coast Path that runs all the way from Geroskipou to the Castle. We haven't got time to cover it all, so we shall head up to the SODAP beach and have a look at that section.Kato Paphos Part 8
