Troodos Winter Wonderland 2024
Wintery Roads

The roads weren't in that bad shape when I drove up. The trickiest part was at the start of snow. The morning sun had yet to melt the overnight frost, and there was a lot of black ice. If you watch one of the films I published you will see where I slow down. That was because of the ice.

Nice Parking

On entering Troodos Square I was amazed at some of the parking I saw. The silver car you can see in the foreground was parked in the centre of the roundabout. A police car drove past it but didn't bat an eyelid. Soon another car who didn't know there was a roundabout here decided to park next to the silver car, and half of the roundabout was completely blocked. This is why I said earlier you should park in such a fashion that it is easy for you to leave later. However, please don't park in the centre of roundabouts.
Information Shed

As I was walking along the road (the pavement was blocked) I wondered what the building on the right was. If you look at it, the roof appears to be collapsing. However, when you are in it, it looks like it was designed that way. Inside there was a number of information signs giving you more details on the surrounding countryside.
Corn On The Cob

There are numerous stalls where you can but toboggans, gloves and assorted snacks. I particularly recommend the corn on the cob.

This chap needs to work on his stock levels.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
