Polemi Sunrise
Polemi Mist

Since living in our beloved Polemi, we have had to drive early into Paphos on a fairly regular basis, especially during term time. The morning mist has been a regular feature. It is often paints a picturesque scene, to cheer up the grumpiest soon-to-be-teen on their way to school. On numerous occasions I have meant to photograph it, but, mornings being mornings, I have always been in too much of a hurry.

Distant Stroumpi

Today though was different. I had done my Paphos chore, and was returning, camera in hand, at my leisure. I am still getting over a nasty cold, so should have gone straight home. However, I couldn't resist the opportunity for a few early morning mist shots.
Ouch

Getting a nice position for a photo can be quite painful though. To reach this vantage point I had to park in a field and walk through a bunch of very thorny gorse bushes. Two days later, as I write this, I am still picking the occasional spike out of my legs. So I must remember to wear thicker trousers in future. My cold is now on the wane though.
Anyway, in this picture, I am standing to the left of the Kallepeia to Letymbou road, near the big signpost before the Polemi turning. If you look carefully to the middle left you can see a hill with a squat building on it's summit. The building is a water tower, and the hill itself is optimistically billed as "The Mountain Peak of Agia Marina". It is where we are now headed.
View From The Main Water Tower

Polemi has a much bigger water tower than the one on top of the mountain. I was going to take some photos of it with the mist in the background, but on driving up to it, I couldn't decide whether it was in somebody's back garden or not. I don't like invading people's privacy, so instead I drove around the tower, and took a picture there.
The SODAP Winery

This valley, between Stroumpi and Polemi, is the one I am most interested in, as the Paphos road cuts across it.

Polemi Tulip Festival 2018
This morning, Polemi was bathed in Spring sunshine, as it invited people to come and see the tulips that flourish there every year. It is an annual event, which gives a true taste of traditional Cypriot life. And as we live in Polemi ourselves, it would be rude not to cover it, wouldn't it?
Polemi Sunset
Polemi isn't known for it's sunsets, well, to us at least. They are normally the domain of the coastal areas of Paphos, and Max's house. However, this evening, the Gods smiled on us, and granted us a lovely sunset. The photos can provide a brief, fitting epilogue to our last blog, Polemi Sunrise.

Polemi Rain
The winter storms are back with a vengeance. Polemi had 46mm of rain overnight, and it showed this morning. Our webcam presented a sorry picture, but I was curious to see what was happening in other parts of the village...
Polemi Concentration Camp
As you approach Polemi from the B7, you pass the Kamanterena Winery on your right. Just beyond that, if you are paying attention, you will see a lookout tower that wouldn't look out of place on a WW2 movie. A couple of ancient armoured vehicles might also perk your interest, so pull over, and take a look at Polemi Concentration Camp.
From Pentalia to Polemi
A few weeks ago we produced a rather long film, showing a drive from Pentalia to Polemi. I was going to do a sped-up version, but I found the full version quite relaxing, especially with the soothing soundtrack, so I have left it alone. People were curious as to the route we took, so I retraced our steps, and stopped to take some photographs along the way...Good Pages To Visit
