The Thirteenth Peyia Carob Festival
Easy Does It

I think Cyprus holds the World Record for the number of glasses on a head in a dance. The amount is something huge.

Actually, that was incredibly lazy writing. A quick Google rectifies that:
Dinos Kkantis balances 468 glasses in traditional dance, surpassing previous world record. Cypriot dancer Dinos Kkantis has once again etched his name in the Guinness World Records, this time by balancing an astonishing 468 glasses on his head during a performance organized by the Municipality of Aradippou
459 to go!

I should add that the 468 was not a single sequential tower. That would be extremely silly.

Anyway, the dancers continued, and were soon replaced by more dancers. In the fullness of time a live band made an appearance too. By that time though, we had had to make our way home.
Take Note

In truth, I don't think the Annual Carob Festival paid much attention to Carob. But there is nothing wrong with that. There was plenty of social eating, drinking and enjoying lovely traditional music and dance. So if you see an event advertised for oranges, or tomatoes, or some other vegetable, don't dismiss it as something you wouldn't find appealing. Cypriots like big, social events, and there will be far more to it than the vegetable itself!
