Paphos Old Town In 2026 - Part 1
Cementography
You can also see one of the Cementography pieces here. Throughout Old Town there is a depiction of a traditional Cypriot Folt Tale: Aroudafnousa. It tells the story of how the Queen hired a beautiful hand-maiden (Aroudafnousa) who was then seduced by the King. The queen didn't like this, so tortured the girl. The king gets to hear of this, and in this image you see him flying back to his castle to rescue Aroudafnousa. Unfortunately he is too late. She is dead. In his rage he kills the Queen. Not once does he do any soul-searching about his own infidelity. For shame, etc.
For more information on the entire series, see our Cementography Article.
Next to all that you can buy some sandles.
To The East
Turning right from the Green living wall will bring you to Makarios III Avenue. This is a walkway that runs up to Kennedy Square. Near the Market end of it you will find the Tourist Information Centre. Periodically they organise free tours of Old Paphos. If you want to find out more information you should pop in there.
Rum And Jam
This bar is quite lively at night. It used to be an empty lot, full of rubbish.
More Cementography
On the wall beside Rum and Jam is another of the Aroudafnousa Cementography pieces. This one shows the Queen torturing the girl. Don't worry though, it isn't at all graphic!
