Paphos Kataklysmos Festivities - 2024
Busy Streets

This is one of the calmer pictures I took. The Sea Front was heaving on Saturday. And it will be heaving again tonight too. If you are coming down in a car, please allow plenty of time to find a place to park. As well as the Harbour Car Parks there are a number behind Bar Street which you can also utilise. Don't try driving through the centre of Kato Paphos to get to them though, or you might spend a long time in a queue.

Moonlight Becomes You

The moon really did look spectacular tonight. And it got me thinking. Normally, photographing the Fish Boy Statue is a bit of a challenge at night, because of the lack of light. Would it be possible to get the moon's reflection behind him to provide some natural illumination?
Beautiful Fish Boy

Yes it would! The only downside was that there was a van parked exactly where I needed to stand to take the picture. This meant I had to waggle the camera about trying to keep it still, while making sure I didn't fall in the water. I took a lot of blurry smudges, but a couple turned out ok. The Kalispera picture tonight on Facebook will be worth a look at!
Back To The Action

Anyway, back to the Festival. There was a clothes shops selling low-priced dresses and skirts. I have been wary of buying clothes at markets ever since I bought a pair of jeans in Kingston Market back in the 90s. They were fine until I came to wash them. Unfortunately though, they turned the entire load of washing bright blue. It brought new life into some old clothes, but wasn't really a look I wanted.
Koupes

If you haven't had a proper Koupes you should rectify that immediately. It is a traditional Cypriot dish made with bulgur wheat, lean beef mince, onion and fresh herbs. Lemon juice is essential. Just bite one end and squeeze it in. That's what I do anyway. They are delicious hot or cold and you can find them in most bakeries, supermarkets and a lot of kiosks.

I've made a number of drone films recently of the Sea Front and Paphos Harbour. While I am filming, I also take the occasional picture, so thought it would be nice to show you some of them and add some information about how the various renovation works are progressing.
Paphos Kataklysmos Celebrations
Kataklysmos is a big deal in Cyprus. The whole island celebrates with water festivals, traditional events and numerous other activities. Traditionally the biggest celebrations occur in Larnaca, though every town and city does their bit. Paphos is having its own celebrations, and the Sea Front is teaming with stalls selling allsorts. Over the next few days there are also performances to be enjoyed at Paphos Castle. We went down to the Sea Front to join in the fun.Good Pages To Visit
