Marathounta Wilderness
One Final Look
You can see some of that wall I mentioned in this shot, in the bottom centre left. How long ago was that built?
Interesting Crystals
It is worth mentioning that there are some interesting crystals in the rock around the area. You would need a very strong back to lug them to your car though.
Imposter Ruins!
I found what I thought were the ruins I was looking for. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed. It was only later, when I was putting the blog together, that I realised that these must have been completely different ruins. The building in the previous shot didn't have any vegetation around it at all. How could I have forgotten that?
So those other ruins will have to remain unexplored for now...
Back To Life
You can just make out the car, in the centre right of the picture. In a day or two I shall publish the film I made of the drive back to Marathounta.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and film I took on my adventure. I had been meaning to visit the area for some time now, as I love exploring remote places. This sort of blog will never be as popular as a comparative review of the local beaches or kebab joints, but it is much more fun, and personally rewarding, to make. So thank you for reading through to the end.
Marathounta Wilderness - The Film
And this is the film I made of the visit. It is part drone footage, and part somewhat wobbly action cam. The wobbles were down to the terrain though, I had to do a lot of clambouring. Also, I made the drone footage primarily to get my bearings, so apologies if that jerks a bit too. I wasn't going to publish it, but then I thought it would be nice to have a record of the area before the motorway arrived. So enjoy it for what it is: a glimpse of Mars from the comfort of Paphos.

Marathounta Shortcut
During lockdown we have to get our thrills where we can. So when we have to do mundane tasks such as taking the garden waste down to the local recycling centre, we try and make the best of it. Here then, is a picturesque route down to Konia Green Point. The Paphos to Polis Motorway - Part 1
A new motorway is coming to Paphos. It will link the existing A6 motorway to the North West coast of the island, reduce travel time, and aid congestion on the B7. That's the plan, anyway. Alternatively, it will destroy precious natural areas and be an expensive waste of money. We decided to take a look at the proposed route for ourselves, so now at least you will know exactly where the motorway will go. Possibly.Good Pages To Visit
