Magic Crystals

Yesterday my wife said she wanted to go out crystal hunting, so we drove into the forest for a scavenge, and followed it with a quick dip in the ocean near Polis. Playing with one of the crystals, I thought I would leave a gift for a random beach-comber, but got a surprise of my own...

After a decent crystal hunt we are usually hot and sweaty and covered in dust. So a swim is fairly essential. The water is still quite warm, which isn't bad considering it is mid October!

Crowded Beach

We weren't alone. A couple were walking their dogs and collecting interesting pebbles off the beach.

A Little Gift

I decided I would leave a little gift for the beachcombers, so I placed one of the gypsum crystals I had found in the sand, and put a ring of pebbles around it, to make it look suitably mysterious. You can just see it in the middle bottom of this photograph.

Let There Be Light

What I hadn't anticipated, was the effect the diminishing sun's rays would have on the crystal. It lit up like it was charged with electricity.

Paphos still plagued by stormy weather

Heavy rain and strong winds plagued the Paphos district on Tuesday, resulting in three more fallen trees on the roads.

The fierce winds toppled three trees at 1.20pm, 5pm and 9pm in Paphos and Polis Chrysochous. In all three cases road networks were restored shortly.

Paphos hotels expect 80% occupancy over Christmas holidays

Paphos hoteliers expect occupancy rates of some 80% over the Christmas holidays, the president of the local chapter of the Cyprus Hotels Association Thanos Michaelides said on Wednesday,

He told the Cyprus News Agency that bookings were satisfactory with keen interest from the local market.

Paphos bus drivers to return to work

Paphos bus drivers voted by majority to suspend their strike action and return to work on Wednesday morning to give the company and the Transport Ministry time to resolve their dispute by December 23.

The decision came after bus drivers traveled to Nicosia where they protested outside the Presidential Palace, the House of Representatives and the Transport Ministry.

Bad weather causing problems in Paphos and Limassol

The fire services continue to receive calls for help due to rains in the Paphos and Limassol district.

Between Monday and Tuesday morning, they removed two trees from roads and pumped water from a passage and a building in the Limassol area.
