Kouris Dam Overflows
Down Stream
You get a great view from up here of the water spout. If you want to visit it yourself, the route is safe for all vehicles. Just take the tarmaced left turn before you get to the dam. This winds down the hill and eventually deposits you at the possible treatment plant.
There is no benefit from taking the dirt track you see near the top. That's where we went originally, and it just leads you to the side of the dam, with no real stunning views.
You can't see it from here but there were quite a few cars parked at the other end of the dam. There was also a refreshments kiosk, though only one. For some reason Cypriots seem to prefer the sight of the Asprokremmos overflowing., as there were quite a few hastily-assembled kiosks there.
Water Chute
I also filmed a 360 film here, with my camera on a 3 metre pole. If you have seen the film, it is the bit where the camera pans below the bridge. The 360 is great for footage like that, as it goes where other cameras don't, and you don't have to worry about the subject until you come to process the film later.
It does look a bit puzzling to bystanders though, some of whom were convinced that I was going to try a spot of fishing.
Debris
I wonder if this debris is collected and used for anything? I can't work out whether it is old fennel stems or bamboo. There is certainly a lot of it though.
