The Fruity Fields Of Theletra
Along The Way
On the route back to the B7 you pass a couple of other gorges. The first one looks really promising. Look at the dark bit in the middle of the picture. That hides a crack between the two hills, indicating that a gorge runs far below. Unfortunately, the area upstream of it is heavily overgrown. If I am to investigate that I should return in the Autumn or Winter, when the vegetation has died down a bit.
Gorge Crossing
The next gorge is more obvious. It has a bridge running over it, which while not Venetian still looks pretty neat. This gorge works its way around a farmhouse, so we are going to try and drive round it to see what is on the other side.
Up Here
To get behind the farm you have to take this sharp turn. You can see Theletra in the background.
Junkyard Jallopies
This farm looks like it might be a retirement home for old Farmyard Equipment. I love all the grass growing in the back of that trailer.
Country Wiring
I've seen this sort of setup before in Cyprus, normally in remote valleys.

Theletra Waterfall
The abandoned village of Theletra, between Stroumpi and Kathikas, is a great place to visit and explore. Equally fascinating is the surrounding countryside, which consists of forgotten tracks and overgrown orchards and vineyards. The other day we went exploring, looking for a church. I am still not sure whether we found it or not, but we had a lot of fun on the way, and discovered a little waterfall...The Abandoned Village of Theletra - Part 1
Old Theletra was abandoned several decades ago. The threat of landslides drove the population up the hll to a new settlement. Since then the village has mainly been left to crumble, save for its church and a few buildings which are still inhabited. At first glance, there is not much to see here, aside from some picture-postcard views. But get adventurous, and there is a whole host of places to explore...Good Pages To Visit
