Apple of Life
This one was interesting. On one side you have half an apple, with a single, large seed.
On the other side, the seed has been replaced with a mother feeding a baby, a baby in the womb, and a sperm cell. It shows the various stages of birth.
I really like this one, but I don't know why.
Fish Head
I took four identical pictures of this statue. Every time I walked away from it, I saw something new, and went back for another look. Why I had to take another picture each time I have no idea, but there you go. A lady standing next to me asked me if I had noticed that the lady in the half-egg, or seed pod, had a fish head instead of a human one. To my shame I hadn't noticed, my eyes had obviously been drawn to the boobs instead.
Neptune?
The indoor Neptune is multi colour. I do like the multi-coloured statues. It brings them alive a bit more.

Clueless Cupid

Ayia Napa Sculpture Park
The Sculpture Park in Ayia Napa was built in 2014, and since then has been delighting tourists and locals alike with its eclectic range of art work. Last summer we visited the area and had to include it on our itinerary. What started as an orderly photo shoot soon descended into an excited clamber along the many paths that criss-cross the landscape of the park. Far too numerous to feature them all, we present some of the many weird and wonderful sculptures you can see when you visit this wonderful park.
Kouklia Memorial
We recently blogged about a little shrine by the motorway. It turns out that it was placed there in memory of two soldiers who lost their lives in a helicopter accident. I was confused myself, because I knew there was a helicopter crash memorial, but it was a little further away from Paphos, near Kouklia. An internet search revealed that there had been two crashes. So in the interest of fairness, I thought we should take a look at the other shrine. It isn't visible from the motorway, but if you take the trouble to find it, you will not be disappointed, as it is a lovely memorial...
Geroskipou Sculpture Park
As part of Pafo2017, a new Sculpture Park was commissioned in Geroskipou. Inspired by local history, legends and traditions, ten Cypriot and foreign sculptors have created on-site works drawing on the history of the area and, in this way, leaving behind them the traces of the European Capital of Culture. That's what the blurb says anyway. So what are they like?

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
