Archimandrita
The Main Water Feature
If you follow the road down you soon come to Archimandrita's main water feature.
Posh Arch
This house was obviously well maintained, as were others in the area. According to the Archimandrita Website the population of the village has dwindled from several hundred to, in the last census in 2002, a mere 46. Hopefully it has picked up a bit since then. There were certainly plenty of buildings around that looked lived in.
What's This?
I think this had something to do with the nearby water feature, but I am only speculating.
The Road Out
So, that was Archimandrita. According to the village website, they have plans for a nature trail in the area, which I am sure will be lovely. If you visit the area, it is worth bringing a picnic with you, as the views are lovely and the region is worth more than just a glance. In a few weeks, we will be publishing our second road trip, which takes in this route, plus the Diarizos Valley and a few other locations as well.
That Wind Farm Again
But we will also be returning to Archimandrita at one point as well. The village website informed us that there is a Venetian Bridge and Mill nearby, and those will need to be visited...
