Kato Pafos In Spring
We had visitors who were staying in one of the hotels down in Kato Pafos. We had fun showing them the sights and enjoying the sunset from the side of their hotel's pool. This picture shows that you shouldn't put your camera away as soon as the sun goes beyond the horizon. It was taken several minutes later.
Agios Charalambos
We love exploring in Cyprus, and first stumbled on this remote church some time ago. The wax effigies inside look quite mysterious at first, but they are in fact used for prayer. The head in the picture was probably placed by a couple trying for a child. But you will also find offerings looking like limbs, which are there to help cure a broken bone. There is also a nice grotto behind the church.
Polemi Tulip Festival
April brings with it the annual Polemi Tulip Festival, which celebrates the pretty flowers that grow in some of the surrounding fields at this time of year. The tulips aren't as common as they once were, but one field is now fenced off so there will always be something for you to admire. The festival itself features a host of stalls as well as lots of traditional music and dancing.
Paphos Easter
In Cyprus, Easter is a bigger deal than Christmas. Easter decorations are even more widespread than the Christmas decorations which will hopefully have been put away by now. If you are planning on a trip to Cyprus during Easter, bear in mind that the Greek Orthodox Easter is not necessarily on the same date as the UK Easter. In 2019, it falls on April 28th.
From Polemi To Polis
We love our road trips, and on this journey we travelled from Polemi to Polis, visiting abandoned villages and stunning scenery along the way. We actually couldn't decide which route to take, so ended up doing two. The picture shows the abandoned village of Trimithousa, overlooking the Evretou Reservoir.
