Worn Stairs

Now this sort of ruin I love. Age-old steps worn down by many years of use.

Back To The Labyrinth

We had left the art behind now, and decided to take the right hand exit.

More Tunnels

Above ground again, and we can see more tunnels.

A Mosaic

The mosaic here is protected from the elements. There is an information sign too:

PEBBLE MOSAIC FLOOR

Fabrika Hill

Hellenistic Period

This is the largest excavated pebble floor in Cyprus. The scenes are reproduced with black pebbles on a white background and are divided into three panels that are framed by bands in brick-red colour. The central panel depicts two dolphins holding tridents in their mouths. The west panel depicts a possibly male figure that is walking towards the northern side. His right hand is raised while in is left he holds a tall conical object, probably a utility vessel. The entire scene is framed by a band with repetitive coil patterns.

Overhanging Rock

Heading towards the sea, I wanted to see how much of an overhang there was here. I thought there might be another cave but it didn't seem to go in any distance. Some parts of the hill are still obviously solid rock then.

Beyond Fabrica Hill

A few weeks ago we blogged about Fabrica Hill. We went to find out about the new walkway, and to see what was on the hill. The blog was very popular, but left people chomping at the bit for more. Why didn't you feature the amphitheatre? Where will the walkway end? Why are there never any hedgehogs in your blogs? Most of these questions were asked. So the other day, we went back to find the answers. Not only that, but we also found that most elusive of creatures, an artist's impression of what the walkway will look like when it is complete. So read on to find out...

Paphos Archaeological Park

When relatives visited us a few weeks ago, we took them to some of the local tourist must-see sites. A definite highpoint was the visit to the Archaeological Park. We were especially lucky because it was spring time and all the wild flowers were in bloom...

Paphos Caving

A few months ago we read a report in the papers about an interesting cave that lurked within Paphos itself, behind an old church. After a bit of investigation I found it, and did a bit of spelunking.
