The Abandoned Village of Theletra - Part 2
In our last blog we started exploring the abandoned village of Theletra. There was a lot to explore, so we split the blog in two. In this, the second part, we examine buildings behind the church, visit an old, abandoned school, and risk fig pimples to bring you splendid views from the top of the town...
By The Church

If you have not seen the first part of this blog you should read it here. Once you have done that, click the button to return here...
The road to the church is quite narrow, but I can get my Pajero up it so unless you've got a monster truck you should be ok. What's more, there is plenty of space to turn round so you won't have a problem going back out again.
Nice View

This is the view from the church, looking towards the sulphur spring.
Inside The Church

There is nothing much to say about the church itself. Inside it is fairly non-descript compared to other Cyprus churches. There aren't any murals or hidden caves to explore.
Behind The Church

However, behind the church is a different matter. There are lots buildings there but no obvious ways of getting to any of them, other than the ones at the front.
To The Left

See those bamboo poles? We are going to climb down there as it leads to an opening.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
