Tremithousa Gorge
View From The Top

If you fancy a nice view and you are in the area, I can think of worse ways to spend 5 minutes.

Let's Go To The Gorge

Ok, so we have established that the area looks nice. What about the gorge itself. There are steps on the other side of the road that lead down. Let's head there.

There is an interesting arch below.
Stairway to Heaven

I've mentioned my fondness for gorges in previous blogs. I was hoping for there to be a nice little route along the floor of the gorge here.
Reality Bites

However, when I got to the gate, I found it locked. It then dawned on me that this gorge was just here to service the seasonal river that ran through it. It wasn't a tourist attraction, just a functional bit of infrastructure which the good people of Tremithousa Council had felt was worth presenting in the best possible light. And why not? Full marks to them for caring about the appearance of their locality.
I wasn't going to be exploring any hidden gorge today. I did follow the gorge upstream for a bit, but it is very overgrown and leads to an enclosed area and a nearby barking dog. So instead, I headed back towards the car. There was still that right-hand path I mentioned earlier to investigate.
