Paphos Forest Mine
Catching Up With Old Friends
Once we had checked out the lake, we thought we would have a look at the other pool we had found in the winter. Unfortunately it had not fared well in the heat.
Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud
Anybody up to a spot of highly chemical mud-wrestling?
All that remained of the pool was this rather toxic puddle. What would analysis of a water sample from here reveal, I wonder?
You can get a clue from looking at a completely dried up puddle. that would certainly put hairs on your chest...
So there you have it. Another mine that has ravaged the countryside yet managed to remain strangely beautiful, to me at least. Unlike Limni, there are no plans to turn this into a golf course. Indeed, I believe that there may even be plans to do some more mining here. Time will tell. If you do plan on taking a visit, you do so entirely at your own risk. Be prepared for a walk, and take plenty of water and some decent boots. Alternatively, fly there in a helicopter.
