Mini Reservoirs

If you look closely at this picture you can see some square areas of water down below. These look like water storage areas designed to catch some more of the escaping water before it flows away to the sea. We will see these in close up shortly, as they provided great photo opportunities.

View From The Bottom

To get to the bottom of the dam, you have to approach from the eastern side. Coming from the Paphos direction on the B6, if you turn left just past the dam, you then need to take the second track to your left. This is quite muddy but eventually comes here.

I was surprised when we got here though, as I was expecting the water to be flowing over the top of that ramp.

Hidden Exit

However, just below that ramp there is obviously a drain of some description, as the water comes out below.

Safe Bees

Before the dam overflowed, people had been concerned about the bees. But the hives are perfectly safe. There are a lot more to the right of this picture as well. This does of course mean that there are a lot of bees about, but if you don't annoy them they won't annoy you.

Photogenic Bee

Indeed, this particular bee was more than happy to pose for Alex.
