One Last Flower
Out of interest, what was the theme to the carnival? The press release we promoted said it was Halloween. However, an article in Cyprus Mail the day before said it was Africa.
To The Church
After the Peyia Overlook, we headed for the Akamas. If you drive along the coast road towards the Akamas, it veers left near Agios Georgios. You then turn right at the Sunset Restaurant. However, if you take the right turn directly before that, and drive above Melitis Forest and the Necropolis, you will eventually come to this church. I mention this because you can also get here from the Akamas but those routes are a lot bumpier.
Agia Matrona
According to Wikipedia, Matrona is a canonized Saint of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Lots of Friendship Bracelets have been left at the base of her statue.
According to Google, Saint Matrona was born blind, and is known as Saint Matrona the Blind. You can see this in her depiction on the statue, I think.

The Necropolis at Meletis Forest
If you drive to the Akamas along the coastal road, you will eventually come off the main road and onto a side road leading to the Akamas proper. Before you go past the Searays cafe bar, you will see a nondescript sign on your right, next to a layby.
The Akamas By Car
Nothing beats exploring the Akamas by car. A decent 4x4 can take you to places you would never normally find on foot, and the aircon can be a real life-saver. Some routes into the Akamas are bumpier than others. In this blog take a relatively bump free route which would suite the more cautious amongst you.Related Pages

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
