As you enter, you are greeted with this mural to your right. Not sure who he is, if I had to guess I would say Moses, carrying the 10 commandments. That is purely a guess though.

The Rear Room

Let's start exploring from the back of the chapel. I will look at the pictures in a minute. First though, look at the candles on the left. There are three very long ones, with their bases wrapped in newspaper. This would suggest to me that they are held. I remember altar boys used to have candles in Catholic masses, which they held in front of the Priest as he read the Gospel. Do these have a similar purpose?

Icons

I often wonder what purpose these icons serve. Are they votive offerings? Or do they get hung up when there are services?

Old Murals

Moving forward we come across this mural. This is pretty well intact still. You can see it represents an angel, as there are a pair of wings behind the main body.

Saint George

This mural would appear to represent Saint George. There is a smaller version in front of it, too.

I've been meaning to do some more articles on the villages of Paphos. One such, Choulou, has a number of features that deserve their own blogs. Step forward Agios Theodoros Church, a nice ruin dating back to the 8th century AD.
