From Neo Chorio To Aphrodite's Baths - August 2024

Neo Chorio is one of the gateway villages to the Akamas. It lies on the north coast of Paphos, just west of Latsi. It is a very pretty location, surrounded by some amazing countryside. In this film we drive through the village then had down towards the coast. We turn left to get to Aphrodite's Baths and park in the eco campsite next to it.

Let's fly the drone around the Coast of Paphos. We start at Pachyammos Beach by the Ivi Mare, and fly past Olympic Lagoon and the Amphora Resort to SODAP Beach. It was surprisingly cloudy, considering it was the start of August. Nevertheless, the boardwalk looks lovely.

Paphos Sea Front In August - Hot hot hot!

The sun is at its hottest in August, and don't we know it! Fortunately the drone seems to cope better than the action cameras when it comes to the baking temperatures, so I am still able to fly it up and down Paphos Sea Front without it overheating. If you venture out during the day, wear protection and a sunhat, and bring plenty of fluids. If you want to go swimming, most people do it here at about 8AM in the morning!

On Thursday Night I went for a stroll along the Harbour and Seafront. That film was published yesterday. When I reached the end I continued up Poseidonos Avenue and returned via the top end of Bar Street, checking out some of the restaurants along the way.

Kato and Old Paphos - July 2024 - With Commentary!

This is a drive through Kato Paphos and Old Town with a bit of a twist. I am using some roads I don't normally drive down, so you will be seeing some new areas of our lovely city. We start at the Harbour, and drive straight up Poseidonos Avenue until we get to the Alymra. Turning left at the renovations, we drive through Universal and take a narrow road up the cliffs to wind up by the Ethnographic Museum. We then head to Old Town before having a quick drive through Moutallos.

From Vretsia To Roudia Bridge - Paphos Forest

In this film we drive from Vretsia along the forest track to Roudia Bridge. This is one of the Camel Trail bridges used by the ancient Venetians to transport ore from their mines in the mountains to the waiting ships. The route is very beautiful, and these days it is not too hard on cars. Be warned though, that if you choose to venture beyond the bridge to the Diarizos Valley, it gets heavy going, and should only be attempted in a decent 4x4.

Unlike the holiday destinations on the East of the Island, Paphos has a lot more to offer than wall-to-wall beaches. Travel inland and you will find some amazing countryside. If you are particularly adventurous you could venture into Paphos Forest itself. Indeed, what better way to find some cooling shade and the chance to go for a paddle in a mountain stream, than to head for somewhere like Roudia Bridge.

I thought I would dodge the summer heat this morning and set off on an early morning stroll from the Sea Front to Poseidonos Avenue at the top end of Bar Street. I went along the road which has Papantoniou's Supermarket, so we could take a look at the new boutique hotel that has been built there, and doesn't it look lovely?

Gosh it is hot at the moment, and it is due to get hotter next week too! So keep in the shade and sip on an ice-cold drink while watching the drone taking one for the team and getting out there in the scorching sun. There are two routes from Coral Bay to Paphos. The Coast Road takes you to Kings Avenue Mall and the Sea Front. By turning left at the Sea You Beach Bar, you get to drive through Kissonerga, Lempa and Chloraka before arriving at Moutallos.

Yes, it is 360 Friday once again. In this adventure we are going off-road for a bit to visit the abandoned village of Foinikas on the banks of the Asprokremmos Reservoir. We start off in Nata then use Farm Tracks to get to the river itself. After that it is a bumpy ride along the side of the valley, so strap in and hold on to your hats!

From Paphos To The Harbour - With Commentary!

Let's take a drive through the centre of Paphos. We start at the Lidl Roundabout and head down the B7 to Kennedy Square. We have a quick peek at the construction site for the new hotel, then drive past the Ivis Maliotou Park to the Kings Avenue Mall. From there we drive through Kato Paphos new St Paul's Pillar, and down Bar Street to Poseidonos Avenue. Finally, we travel to the harbour area.

In this film we fly the drone along the Sea Front, starting at the Castle. When we get to Tea For Two we continue up Poseidonos Avenue to see what the renovations look like from above. For a change, I have added commentary to this drone film. Let me know whether you find it useful. I won't necessarily do it for all drone flights, but it is nice to have it as an option.

You may recall that the Old Police Station in Kennedy Square is being renovated. It will eventually become the Paphos Historical Documentation Centre.
