The popular group “Trio Tekke”, after a long break, returns with a series of performances, including Paphos, in Technopolis 20's garden. These performances take place alongside with the release of their new album, a collaboration with the English-Italian drummer Dave De Rose (Moloko, Rokia Traore, Mulatu Astatke, Electric Jalaba), titled “Zivo”.
The album consists exclusively of original compositions and suggests a fresh, more electric sound, dragging the rembetiko into new paths, by enhancing it with musical elements from Latin America, Africa, psychedelia, rock and more. Trio Tekke was created in London in 2005 and has already made two internationally successful albums (The Regetics [2009] and Samas [2011]). The group has appeared in many European countries and major festivals such as Jazz A Vienne (France) and Latitude Festival (England), and has played live on BBC 3.
