Arrest after burglary in Paphos

A man has been arrested in Paphos suspected of stealing €12,000 and bank cards from a house.

According to police, a 40-year-old woman reported on Monday that while she was away, her home was burgled and a bag on a table containing €12,000, jewellery and bank cards were taken.

Police found the perpetrators had entered through a bedroom window.

Majority of teachers reject strike action over exams

The majority of teachers on Monday morning decided not to stage work stoppages to protest against recently introduced four-monthly exams in high schools.

After 100 per cent of the votes were counted, it emerged that 55 per cent were against the strikes, while 44 were in favour. As a result, the educators will not go on strike.

Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus’ high-rise buildings

Over 13 million cubic metres of groundwater will be pumped out in Limassol alone between 2019 and 2022 for the coastal town’s construction of high-rise buildings, according to a scientific study.
