No Entry Above

I got most of the way around the boulder, but it soon became impassable. Well, I could have climbed over that, but I would have no idea if I would be able to climb back again, so it was out of the question. I should at this point state that I am not a climber. I am sure any climber worth their salt would have been up and down this gorge in a flash, but that isn't me.

As Above So Below

There was also a hole at the base of the boulder, but to put it bluntly, I am too fat to squeeze through that! So I retraced my steps. I had at that point given up on my attempt to get to the bottom. However, on the way back around the boulder I saw a route down I had previously missed. This took me to another little plateau rather than going straight down.

This Way

From there I was able to walk down the slope at a more sedate pace. I imagine after rain this wouldn't work though. I could see myself sliding straight down here. And I wouldn't be able to slide back up...

Through Here

I had to negotiate one more boulder but I was able to fit under that.

Bottoms Up!

Finally I was within reach of the base of the gorge, and didn't it look beautiful?

We saw it pictured and felt it needed further investigation. A quick google revealed that it was remarkably close to the Northern town of Latchi. So we set out to see what we could find. We weren't disappointed, as you shall see...

Androlikou Countryside

Androlikou is an old Turkish Cypriot Village in the Akamas, South West of Polis. It was largely abandoned after the invasion, though there are signs it is springing into life again. There is a quarry directly below it, which dominates the surroundings, but if you look past that you will see an amazing variety of countryside.
