What Are These Mystery Tags?
Avakas Gorge In The Distance

Yesterday we were showing some guests some of the more unusual parts of the Akamas. Ahead of us you can see the latter part of Avakas Gorge. I was a bit miffed as I wanted to publish this blog but was two images short (each page has 5 images).
A Mundane Water Pump

Luckily, I spotted this water pump, and lo and behold, there were some tell-tale tags. These were left by XΠ, KΛ and ΣX.
Near The ISOP

This one was a puzzle. The International School Of Paphos PTA regularly organise litter cleaning events, to tidy the land around the school. I had come along to help, last November, and while picking litter I spied this strange hatch in the distance. I naturally had to take a look, so lifted the hatch.
Wishing Well?

The hatch was to protect an old well, I presume. From the dropped pebble, it was very deep, and there was still water at the bottom. Anyway, not wanting to leave a hole like this exposed, I closed the lid again...
More Tags!

It was then that I spotted more tags! "IA" had visited this site on numerous occasions in 2015 and 2016, and they clearly wanted other people to know about it.
Incidently, the land has since been built on, so don't go looking for any wells.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
