Paphos - Polis Motorway Update - January 2024
Overhead View

Up The Hill

Next to the top end of the bridge you can see some more work.
Solar Farm?

It looks like somebody is building a Solar Farm near the motorway. There are a fair number of these popping up around the Paphos Region. There is also a very large one near Pissouri.
End Of The Road

The final area where work is visible is on the other side of Stroumpi, just before the site of the planned junction with the B7. There is no sign of any work yet between this section and the top of the bridge we just saw.
To Be Continued...

Somewhere in this picture there will be a new junction with the B7. That's the road on the right. The road on the left goes up to Kathikas. Presumably, they will at some point build a bridge for it.
When Phase 1 of the Paphos - Polis Motorway is complete, it will terminate here. Presumably, Phase 2 will run down the valley parallel to the B7. After all, where else could it go? I imagine it will run to the East of the B7 at least until it gets to the Evretou Reservoir. From there, who knows? The B7 is sandwiched between two ridges at this point so it will be quite cosy, at least until you get to Goudi. I do know though that the Motorway Construction Project was instructed by the Government to fully complete Phase 1 to Stroumpi before doing any work on Phase 2. So we shall all have to wait and see.

The Paphos to Polis Motorway - Part 1
A new motorway is coming to Paphos. It will link the existing A6 motorway to the North West coast of the island, reduce travel time, and aid congestion on the B7. That's the plan, anyway. Alternatively, it will destroy precious natural areas and be an expensive waste of money. We decided to take a look at the proposed route for ourselves, so now at least you will know exactly where the motorway will go. Possibly.

It's been a few months since they started building the new motorway between Paphos and Polis. In phase one, they are constructing the first half, which runs from Paphos to Stroumbi. The other day I went to a few vantage points along the route to see how they are getting on.
