Aphrodite's Secret Beach Area
Aphrodite's Car Park
Remember, to get here, you take the B7 to Polis, then turn left along the coast road. Drive through Latsi, and follow the sign to Aphrodite's Baths. You cannot miss it. Just before you get to the car park and restaurant, you will see signs for a Dog Beach. That area is about to have its day.
A Seeming Wilderness
From this angle you can see nothing but barren coastline, because that's what is there.
Dog Beach
However, within this area, you will find the Dog Beach. Now, Dog Beaches in Paphos are a far cry from the magnificent Kapparis Dog Beach they have in Paralimni. The one here is probably the best of a bad bunch. To add insult to injury, it gets overtaken in August by regular holidaymakers who erect tents along the beach. if I was a hound I would feel a bit miffed at this.
Or perhaps I am mistaken? Originally I thought that the dog beach was the area to the left of the central car park here. In fairness to me, I thought this because of the various signs dotted about the place. I was however informed that the dog beach is the area to the right of the car park. But how much of that area though? I read reports in the Press about dog owners being turned away from Dog Beaches, because other people were using them. This begs the question, why? Given how much empty coastline there is between Latsi and Pomos, why would people feel the need to take over the dog beach? I don't know the answer. Perhaps it is because it is a secluded area and they are less likely here to be told to take their tents down?
Towards Latsi
The coastline from here to Latsi contains a number of Blue Flag beaches. Our favourite would be Chalavro Beach, though they are all worth checking out. For more information, see our Paphos Beaches Directory.
And remember, if you want more information on the Polis Coastline, the check out our Cyprus Road Trip eBooks on Amazon, especially books 2 and 4.
Anyway, wherever you choose to park you towel, I hope you have a lovely time in the sun.
