Expectant Mother
This goat had either been hitting the souvla big time, or was big with child. If you come across goats on your travels, just drive at walking pace if you want to pass. They get out of your way. If there is a huge herd though, you are better off just waiting at the back.
Friendly Goats
These goats were actually quite inquisitive and friendly. They might have thought we were going to feed them.
Into The Woods
So, we are happy to report that you can now drive all the way up to the forest along the Xeros Valley, without having to take any diversions. Whats more, when we got to our favourite swing, we were pleased to see that the dam which a careless bulldozer had dismantled was gradually being reassembled.

From Ayios Ioannis To Vretsia
As the Xeros Valley gives way to Paphos Forest, two old Turkish Cypriot Villages stand on either sides of its slopes. We took the long-neglected road from Ayios Ioannis to Vretsia, and discovered not only beautiful countryside, but another abandoned village, and several ancient mills along the way.

Tucked away in the western slopes of Paphos Forest, lies an old mine. You won't ever have seen it unless you went looking for it, and even if you go looking for it you may not find it.Related Pages

We've taken a short break from our look at Cyprus beaches, and are going to share a scenic - and somewhat off-piste - route from Paphos to Polemi. Sometimes when we are coming back from a visit to the Green Point we can get a bit distracted. So come and say hello to the Xeros Valley, Roudia Bridge and a bit of Paphos Forest. There no better way to social distance.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
