Paphos Life Road Trip #1
Statos Church
The church was locked, but there is a lovely view from the yard, so it is worth a visit. You may well get barked at by a dog on your way to the church. It is kept chained up, and is only doing its job. An oriental lady (I think) lives in the house near the church, and the dog belongs to her. She speaks English and seems friendly enough. We have visited Statos numerous times over the years, and met her on several occasions, so she must be a permanent fixture.
Turn Right Here
Once you have had enough of Statos, it is time to head for Agios Fotios. So continue down the road until you come to this sign. You want the Choulou turning.
Agios Fotios
The Choulou road winds it’s way down the hillside. You will soon find yourself above another abandoned village. Like Statos, Agios Fotios still shows signs of life. Indeed, one of the houses looks like it is a new build. However, there are also plenty of ruins to explore.
At this point in the road, I took the left turn, the new-build is to the right of that. You can just see the roof. I was able to park easily, and wandered around on foot.
Nice Vines
I assumed that this building was still inhabited too. Possibly it’s just a store room? It must be great for the people living in this village now though. If they need more storage they can just annex another ruin. Finally I would have somewhere to store all my suitcases!
