Reservoir Water Levels - September 2025
Central Evretou
As you travel up the reservoir from the dam, you will notice it has a sharp turn in it. At this point, turn around, and you will see the area where the overflow is.
The Overflow
When we first moved here back in 2016, the reservoir looked similar to what it looks like now. I remember looking at the overflow and not believing that it could ever get used, as it was so far above the water line.

But I have stood on that little bridge down there, in very muddy conditions, and watched while water poured beneath me. And this was only a couple of years later.

So, provided the rains come back with a vengance, the chances are this will all be full again in a year or two.
Cultivation
While the water is low, you will find some farmers taking advantage of the fact and planting crops on the dried out area. Instead, what they should be doing - the Authorities, not the farmers - is digging out all the dried up mud. If they did that, then the capacity of the reservoir would increase, so that the next time it was full it would hold more water. A friend of mine pointed this out, and it does sound a very good idea. If the farmers are planting crops in the mud at the moment, it must surely be fertile, so it could be used to improve land quality elsewhere.
