Life after the Ice Age

The people who survived this catastrophic event suffered the effects of climate change. In such a harsh environment, shelter was a constant search. As the Earth slowly warmed, people began to move north. The transition from one area to another was made through a route where there were caves, so that in the event of a storm, they could take shelter in one of them. People now settled in mountains and started hunting the abundant herds, with nets, traps, etc.

How did the last Ice Age end?

Various theories conclude that 12,000 years ago, a gigantic tsunami was created which destroyed everything in its path. At the same time, large earthquakes and underwater volcanoes released steam and ash into the atmosphere, causing global warming. The ice caps were melting, resulting in a temporary rise in sea levels while at the same time more giant tsunamis continued to hit the planet. Meanwhile, the steam and ash turned into torrential, red and black rain, which as it continued, raised the temperature of the earth. Global warming started in the North Atlantic resulting in the rapid melting of the Arctic Ocean. This created 2 huge lakes of water and therefore caused the sea level to rise by 20 meters. The remaining glaciers began to melt at a very slow rate, a process that continues today.

So there you have it. I don't know why there is an Ice Age Exhibition at The Mall, but it certainly adds a bit of interest to the place. It was also proving popular with shoppers. I should point out I took these pictures just after The Mall opened, so there weren't that many people about. It's nice to see The Mall make an effort like this, and I hope they continue with more exhibits later in the year. I don't know how long these are here for, so don't hang about if you want to see them.
