The Twelve Churches of Polemi
Ayia Marina
Technically, this next church isn't actually in Polemi. Indeed there is even a sign here erected by the good people of Sroumpi:
The small, minimalist chape of Agia Marina was built in 1985 at the site of an old settlement, where, according to evidence supplied by the villagers, there used to be an underground church. It is a bright white charming chapel with all the classic characteristics of the Byzantine architectural style. It has a simple wooden templon and a bell, which hangs at the top of an iron tower.

    Polemi View
From Ayios Marina you get a lovely view of the SODAP Winery and the distant spires of Polemi.
Inside
And if you were wondering, Marina was a monk, and the Christian saint of Byzantine Syria.
It might be a minimalist chapel but it sure has some big candles.
Distant Stroumpi
We now drive up the B7 towards Stroumpi. Once we get past the main square on the left we take the turning on the right, which is the back road to Polemi.
