Paphos Seafront Storm - November 2023
It looks like wintery weather has finally arrived in Paphos. Overnight we were hit by a big storm, so this morning I set off with my camera to survey the scene. Come with me on an early morning stroll along the Sea Front and Harbour.
Early One Morning

I was a bit quick off the mark this morning, so stopped on the way to the Sea Front for a coffee. Even so, I arrived before the sun had appeared on the scene, so the opening shots were a bit on the dark side. When I visit the Sea Front I normally try and do a film as well as take pictures. I normally park by the Archaeological Park, and walk up to the Gym area taking pictures. From there I walk to the harbour and film my journey. This means the sun is behind me when I film, which is what I want. I then photograph the area from the harbour back to where I parked my car.
When I do a daytime shoot, you won't notice this. However, in this instance you will spot it, as the shots at the beginning are obviously taking after some of the later shots, as they have more light (with the exception of this one), and on the third page, the street lights are on. I only mention this here because otherwise somebody will point it out.
Seaweed

If you like wave watching you should definitely concentrate your efforts at the Municipal Baths end of the Sea Front. They always seem to bear the brunt of the bad weather. This is evident by the amount of seaweed that gets washed ashore.
Clean Water

The seaweed is actually a good sign, and indicates that the water is very clean.

A Little Mystery

I note that they have dug the main street up again, by Tea For Two and Pingouino's. I thought they had only just resurfaced this, but I guess I could be wrong. The perimeter fence took a bit of a battering in the gales.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
