Panagia Salamiotissa Monastery

Last autumn we we doing a bit of Off-Roading at the top end of the Diarizos Valley. On our way back to civilisation we spotted an unusual building across the valley, so stopped to take a look. We found ourselves at a modern monastery with a lovely garden.

My God I miss views like this. That little blue splodge you can make out in the distance is Arminou Reservoir. Beyond that lies Kelefos Bridge, complete with its nature trail through the woods...

Meanwhile, ahead of us lies our destination. Well, Salamiou wasn't our final destination, but that was where the proper tarmac was. After prolonged off-roading it is always nice to know where the next bit of tarmac is.

We had come from down there. It was an offroad track but in truth it was in pretty good nick.

As soon as we hit tarmac, we came across this unusual sign.

It was on the way to Salamiou, so we decided to take a diversion and investigate.
