Old Pafos in 2019 - Part 2
Yes, we like Evi's creations.
A Carpark
We have left Pumpkin House and crossed the square once more. We are going down a road called Zinonos. To our right is a car park. I mention this because the main Old Pafos carpark is being rebuilt at the moment, so you may want to park here instead. There are loos here too, which brings up another point, and a rare criticism of Old Pafos.
IT NEEDS MORE TOILETS!
There are some nice loos in Ibrahim's Khan, but other than that, if you are caught short, you are not going to enjoy the experience of relieving yourself in the Old Town. Most of the toilets appear to be portable affairs in poor states of hygeine. It is probably the biggest criticism of Old Town we read in the comments to our blogs and articles. So if anybody important happens to read this, please bear this in mind when you have your next planning meeting, and make allowances for some more toilets.
Alarm!
To our right there appears to be a security shop that specialises in burglar alarms. To our left was the main entrance to the art cafe we briefly saw in Part 1.
Main Road
Now we are at the main road that runs through Old Town. The traffic flows from here down to the Old Post Office. At this point it is one way. You can occasionally find a free parking spot here as well. Some of them are short stay only so do bear that in mind. It has to be said though, that a Paphos traffic warden is a fairly unusual sight. Let's walk up here a bit though, as there are some interesting shops along the way.
Hardware
As well as this rather spiffing looking hardware store, there was a white goods store, some fashion boutiques, and even a shop selling an assortment of chocolate items. Where possible, I add all the shops I photograph to our business directory. However, in this case, I have nothing to go on. As I said in the first blog, we have a dedicated site devoted to Old Town Paphos, and it includes a directory of shops and restaurants. I would love to be able to add this shop, so if anybody knows the owner of this or any other shop missing from the directory, do get them to get in touch. You can either send a message via facebook (chances of us receiving it within a week, fairly low) or email to [email protected]. Basic listings are free and you can pay for an enhanced listing.
