Ok, so I think that has exhausted the possibilities for shrine photographs. However, we are not done yet. To get to the shrine, we drove past a very odd shack, which needs further investigation...

In order to get to the shack from the shrine, I had to negotiate these rather prickly bushes.

Agios Georgios 2003

This is the shack. It has "Agios Georgios" written on it. Could it be a little church? Oh, and if you look to the right you can see the track that goes back towards Paphos. It has recently been cleared. A couple of weeks ago it was very bumpy.

Inside The Shack

The interior of the shack reminded me of the shrines at Agios Georgios in Paphos.

You can clearly see images of St George and the Dragon, along with Jesus and saints. I don't think it was an actual church though. I certainly couldn't see any altar.

The Evretou Grave

Last time we walked around Evretou Dam, we observed a solitary grave on the opposite bank, half way up a hill. After the blog was published we were approached by somebody who keeps a log of the Turkish Cypriot Graves on the island. He hadn't a record of this one, so I promised to revisit the area and get more information...

Kouklia Memorial

We recently blogged about a little shrine by the motorway. It turns out that it was placed there in memory of two soldiers who lost their lives in a helicopter accident. I was confused myself, because I knew there was a helicopter crash memorial, but it was a little further away from Paphos, near Kouklia. An internet search revealed that there had been two crashes. So in the interest of fairness, I thought we should take a look at the other shrine. It isn't visible from the motorway, but if you take the trouble to find it, you will not be disappointed, as it is a lovely memorial...
