Some of the butterfly shots were actually taken by Evretou Reservoir. While we were there, Alex wanted to get some shots of the local bird population. She stalked this egret for a while.

What's That?

Alex also snapped the egret as it flew off. But what's that in the water next to it?

She managed to get a picture of a fish leaping out of the water to get an insect! How cool is that?

Moth?

Or is it a moth? What is the difference between a butterfly and a moth, other than their beauty?

Well, according to sciencebob.com (?) these are the differences:

Butterflies usually rest with their wings closed, while moths rest with their wings open. Butterflies have long, thin antenna, while moths have shorter feathery antennas. Butterflies generally gather food during the day while moths are seen more at nighttime.

So this is definitely a butterfly.
