Limni Mine
No Car Zone

If you thought you would be able to drive up to that lake, I am afraid you are in for a disappointment. The area is blocked off to cars. If you want to go any further, you need to leave the aircon behind and walk.
From here to the top is about a 20 minute walk. Longer if you like having a rummage for interesting crystals along the way. So, it is important that you take plenty to drink with you.

Olive Trees

The sides of the mine are layered. Since it closed, olive trees have been planted on the various levels. I don't know whether they are harvested or not though, as some of the layers are now pretty much inaccessible.
Old Sign

This old road sign was advising people to drive on the left. There are similar signs on the approach to Polemi, and I have no idea why they are there. I can understand that sort of sign at Limassol Port. There, you can imagine cars getting dropped off from different countries, and it would make sense to put up warning signs. But why are there signs on the approach to Polemi, which is slap bang in the middle of the west of the island?
Future Links?

If this does become a golf course it will have lovely surroundings.
More Fun

On the way up the track, you may be tempted to explore the slopes, looking for interesting nuggets. Be warned, that it took us three attempts to actually make it to the top. The first two times we were distracted and spent all our time (and drank all our water) rooting around this rubble.
