Ezousa Valley in Spring

I know the Ezousa Valley looks stunning down near Episkopi at this time of year. But I think it is even more beautiful up here.

If you get a chance, get out and have a look. It won't look like this for long.

The Road to Lapithiou

This is the track we took. It did eventually get us to Lapithiou. Be warned though, that it wasn't an easy journey. It crossed several streams which would have been turned into raging torrents in the rains, and was washed away in places. We had to get out and pile rocks up in order to cross one stream. And the hill up to Lapithiou was very muddy.

All quite exciting. Unfortunately, when the off-roading gets a bit white-knuckle, I tend to stop taking photographs, so you will have to take my word for it.

Guard Horse

When we reached Lapithiou, we were greeted not by dogs, but by two lovely horses. This was the male, and he was guarding his pregnant mate.

Expectant Mother

She was fairly well gone. A new baby horse would soon be emerging. We didn't want to cause them any undue stress so we continued on our way. We didn't encounter any dogs, and it does look as though Lapithiou is coming back to life. A fair number of the once-dilapidated houses now looked inhabited. So we left them in peace too.

Just to re-iterate, Cyprus looks stunning at the moment. Soon the green will turn to brown, and it will take on a different type of beauty. Go out and see it now, before this happens. You won't be disappointed.

And Happy Easter!

Ezousa Washout

On our numerous visits to the dam over the last few days, we have also taken the opportunity to explore the countryside between the Asprokremmos and Polemi. How had the rains affected the Ezousa Valley? Was one of our hidden picnic areas still intact? Could I even get from Ezousa to Kallepia, like I had done on a previous blog? Would I rescue some German tourists? The short answers are badly, ish, no and yes. For a more in-depth discussion, read on.

From Ezousa Valley To The Sea (almost)

The river Ezousa has carved a beautiful valley out of the lowlands to the east of Paphos. We return to Episkopi to see if it is possible to follow it to the sea in our trusty 4x4.

Ezousa Estuary

A couple of years ago we stumbled across a sad little memorial at the mouth of the Ezousa River. We thought we would check it out again a few days ago, to see what the area looked like after the rains. The question was, how would we get to it?
