A Geroskipou Mini Mystery

After our last blog of the strange monument near Mandria, we were delighted with the response, so we thought we would post these pictures of another forgotten site, this time in the heart of Geroskipou. Did anybody work on this site in the past, and if so, can they say why excavation work seems to have halted mid dig?

Geroskipou Sculpture Park

As part of Pafo2017, a new Sculpture Park was commissioned in Geroskipou. Inspired by local history, legends and traditions, ten Cypriot and foreign sculptors have created on-site works drawing on the history of the area and, in this way, leaving behind them the traces of the European Capital of Culture. That's what the blurb says anyway. So what are they like?

Lemba Art College

On our travels around Cyprus we have often stumbled across numerous random statues and quirky art exhibits. We first happened upon Lemba Art College in 2016, and if you like quirky art it is a must see location. We re-visited a couple of weeks ago and are pleased to see that the college is still a work in progress, as these photos will show...

Yerokipia Farm

If you have ever been to Aphrodite Water Park in Geroskipou, you may well have noticed the ruined buildings next to it. The first time I found them for myself, I assumed, wrongly, that they were the ruins of an old prison. They are in fact, all that remains of a farm that has been there for 100s of years.

Paphos Murals

If you take a wander around the streets of Paphos, both old and new, you will occasionally stumble upon some random art installations. The patchwork tree is one such example, but there are other exhibits too numerous to mention here. Today, we are going to have a look at a subset of these works, and examine some of the murals you will find. Most of them are situated in a small area to the west of Kennedy Square. However, there are a few others scattered around, so it pays to explore...

Even More Murals

Each time we take our camera around the new old Paphos, we seem to discover another set of murals. Last week was no different. I had to visit the main Cyta Office and as I had some time to kill I took the camera for a wander. I will publish most of the shots in the next blog, but this is a small article to show the murals we had previously missed.

Geroskipou Sculpture Park Update

Last year we blogged about the Pafos2017 Sculpture Park that had been erected in Geroskipou. Well, a little bird told us that more work was afoot, so we took the camera to have a look...

Stroumpi Murals

If you drive along the B7 from Paphos to Polis, you will eventually hit Stroumpi. It is about midway between the two towns, and nestled on the Paphos Hills. If you look to your right as you ascend the hill, you will notice some lovely murals adorning the walls. In due course, I will write a blog on the whole of Stroumpi, but today, I just want to concentrate on these murals...
