Cyprus In Pictures - February 2023
We post a daily "Kalimera" picture to Facebook on a topical theme. I thought it would be nice to give them greater exposure, so have combined them into a monthly article. The pictures here are now viewable in their original Landscape glory. So take a look at a selection of pictures we feel summarises how February has been in our corner of Cyprus.
The Wreck of the Edro III

At the start of the month we took our drone to see The Wreck of the Edro III. Incidentally, any links in this article will point to other articles we have written containing more information on the relevent subject. If you don't like clicking links, a potted summary is that nobody was killed in the wreck, and it is now a tourist attraction or an eye-sore, depending on your point of view. The restaurant next to it is apparently very nice too.
Choppy Waters

The seas were a bit rough towards the start of the month, and we had the odd gale. It was mild compared to most years though. This was about as rough as it got at the Sea Front.
No Cars

You may also note that the bollards have been removed. This is because they have pedestrianised the Sea Front, and you can no longer drive down here. The bollards were to stop people parking where they shouldn't. If you think that might have been excessive, it is worth noting that when they have renovated the Paphos road network recently, all the new finishings have included copious amounts of bollards. If you drive through Old Town, for instance, you will see lots of them. If you want to know why they are there, locate an area that has no bollards, and observe how cars are parked...
Saranta Colones

I keep meaning to write to the Antiquities Department to obtain permission to fly my drone at the Archaeological Park. Until that time, I am forced to provide you with little tidbits like this, which show the park from an allowed location. Saranta Colones - or Forty Column Fortress - is one of the highlights of Paphos Archaeological Park. The site has so much to offer on top of the mosaics.
Castle View

A good chunk of our daily pictures are of the sea front, purely because they are by far the most popular pictures.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
