Evretou Dam
A Scateboard Ramp!
One thing we couldn't help but notice was the lack of graffiti on the walls. The area is obviously a bit too remote for the taggers. I am sure kids would love to play on a structure like this, so it is probably a good thing that it is safely tucked away out of sight.
Evretou Waterslide
I mean, just imagine a child cycling down that for a dare...
The Other Dam
So that is it for Evretou Dam. At the very least, visit the picnic area and have a walk along the ridge there. But if you can, why not make more of an outing out of it, and visit the abandoned villages of Evretou and Trimithousa too? Or, from Evretou, continue up the valley to Skarfos Bridge, and have lunch in Simou.
Back to the B7
When the reservoirs are eventually full again, it will be interesting to take some more photos of the area to see how they compare. At the moment though, they are worryingly low.
There is also take of pipelines being built to link this reservoir with Asprokremmos. However, if neither reservoir has much water in it, what would be the point?
Our Route
I've included a map to show roughly the route we took. The hardest part is finding the concrete dam. We had several stabs at that before we got it right.
There are a lot of interesting sights to see around here. If you use the Paphos Life Directory, there is a section in that on blog locations. You can use the map to see what options you have. Alternatively you can ask on the forum using the link below, or join our facebook group and ask there. One person's gentle ride is another person's white knuckle adventure, so if you are in any doubt about a place, just ask.

Last time we walked around Evretou Dam, we observed a solitary grave on the opposite bank, half way up a hill. After the blog was published we were approached by somebody who keeps a log of the Turkish Cypriot Graves on the island. The subject of litter often crops up in discussions on the Paphos Life forum. Things are improving, but there is definitely a long way to go. So it is with great pleasure that we are able to report that on a recent visit to Argaka Dam, we witnessed first hand how school children from the ISOP are helping to keep the area tidy.Abandoned Villages - Evretou

Now that the Asprokremmos has well and truly overflowed, we thought we would pay another visit to our old friend Evretou.
