Cyprus In Pictures - September 2024
We post daily "Kalimera" and "Kalispera" pictures to Facebook on a topical theme. I thought it would be nice to give them greater exposure, so have combined them into a monthly article. The pictures here are now viewable in their original Landscape glory. So take a look at a selection of pictures we feel summarises how September has been in our corner of Cyprus.
Alykes Beach
Let's start the month off with a nice view of Alykes Beach, probably the smallest blue flag beach in Cyprus. You can find it in front of the Annabelle and Almyra Hotels.
St George's Beach
September is a great time to visit Cyprus. The sea is still warm and the sun still high in the sky, but the heat of July and August has abated somewhat. This is St George's Beach in Chloraka. The weird birds nest on a tower is a monument. I am not sure what it is supposed to represent though. There is another monument next to it, to the right of the picture. That one is quite obviously of General Grivas, the leader of EOKA during the Cypriot struggle for Independence in the Fifties.
Corallia Beach
Coral Bay is a great place to stay if you like sandy beaches. There are two very popular ones here. This is Corallia. If you are holidaying in Paphos and want to visit, just get the 615 bus and stay on it until it terminates in the carpark here. If you look carefully you can even see a blue bus at the top of the picture, dropping people off.
Light House View
There are a surprising number of places where you can take a picture showing a nice vista of the Light House. Of course, with a drone you can effectively cheat.
Coral Bay Beach
If you ask a lot of locals they will say they prefer Corallia Beach to Coral Bay Beach, which you can see in this shot. To be honest though, it is like comparing apples with oranges. They are both great for a family day out. If you want to visit here from Paphos, get the 615 and get off on the stop before last.
