Avakas Ruin
On The Rocks
As I had made it this far, I decided to do a bit more exploring. Behind the ruin the hill gave way to a rocky cliff.
Underneath The Arch
There was quite a drop down there too.
Avakas Exit
From here you can see the tail end of the Avakas Gorge, and the track that leads up and back round to the start.
Adventurous Hunters
There was evidence that hunters had been around here at some point in the past. One silver lining about the new travel restrictions is that it should halt the twice-weekly invasion of hunters from Nicosia. Far too many of them disobey the rules, by hunting where they shouldn't, and leaving lots of mess behind. In fairness to the hunters though, the fishermen tend to be a lot messier.
Back To The Road
I took a lot of pictures here. However, on routes like this, when you are photographing a distant landscape, you will end up with a lot of near-identical shots. This one though is heading back towards the road. The pig farm, where I left the car, is by the trees you can see on the horizon.

The Akamas By Car
Nothing beats exploring the Akamas by car. A decent 4x4 can take you to places you would never normally find on foot, and the aircon can be a real life-saver.
