Cyprus In Pictures - April 2023
Ivis Maliotou Park

Here is another example of how the changes the Mayor is implementing on Paphos are having a positive effect. When work started on the privately-funded renovations, there was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth, about it being a wanton destruction of a much-needed green area. However, the end result is a thing of beauty, and a huge, huge improvement on what the park used to be like.

Papantoniou's Roadworks

In this seafront scene you can see the temporary exit from Papantoniou's Supermarket, starting in the bottom left and progressing up the centre of the shot. On the left you can see the roadworks. They are laying drainage pipes, I believe, which are much needed. The area is prone to flooding after heavy rain which does happen during the winter months.
Another Roundabout Shot

This is a top-down view of the Paphos Mall Roundabout. I read somewhere that is supposed to represent Paphos, with the sandy coastal area, the Archeaological Park, and the more industrious area on the upper right. Whether you can see the similarities or not, it is still a lovely roundabout.
October 28th Square

The Town Hall Area and October 28th Square is a very beautiful part of town.
Savage Storm

The last picture wasn't actually one of our Kalimera shots. It was taken by Max, who is one of our forum regulars. He took it in the latest storm, when we had a lot of hail. I thought it was so spectacular that I am including it here.
So what will May bring? Improved weather and less fencing. other than that, time will tell...

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
