One Final Wander

I'm back near the start now. I want to visit one final room though, to photograph another favourite. So turn around and walk forward...

Mine Sweeper

This was it. Minesweeper was one of the original Windows Freebies, and is still available on Windows 11. Indeed, I just wasted 10 minutes confirming that.

Doctor In The House

I'm glad I went looking for Mine Sweeper, as it meant I also found this piece by Anna. She is clearly a Doctor Who fan.

Pull To Open

Here's a nerdy observation. The sign says "PULL TO OPEN", and this is what the sign on the show says too. However, the door to the Tardis normally opens inwards, so you would have to push to open it.

Take Heed

I will leave you with this final warning. Given the craziness going on in this world at the moment, this would explain a lot.

If you have any imagination, and can make it up to the Troodos Mountains, add Amiantos Hospital to your itinerary and come and visit. But don't hang about. The morgue has a bit hole in the roof, and there is no telling how the art will survive the coming winter. So enjoy it while you can. And if you need somebody to brighten up your building, get in contact with Anna and hire her on the spot. I don't even know if she takes commissions, but if she does, she deserves to be booked solid. Her creations are amazing.

The Abandoned Hospital at Amiantos Mines

The Cyprus Asbestos Mine is situated right in the heart of Troodos forest. Following a continuous operation of 84 years, the mine came to a sudden closure in 1988, leaving behind large volumes of waste tips, a badly designed mine pit and an unacceptable environmental scar to an otherwise heavily forested natural beauty area. It also left behind a hospital, which now stands abandoned on the other side of the valley. While environmental steps have been taken to turn the area near the mines into a nature park, the hospital has been let to nature.

Return To Amiantos Hospital

Amiantos Hospital was abandoned in the Eighties, when the nearby mine closed down. along with the nearby village of Pano Amiantos. Now it is slowly being reclaimed by nature while at the same time being used as a sketchpad by the local graffiti artists. If you want some easy-access Urban Exploring in an amazin location, it is a good place to head for.
