Polis Summer Time

Published 16th of August, 2022

Summer is here, and Cyprus is on holiday. We went to Polis to see how the beaches were coping. Based on what we found, our advice is to come early in the day and you will be fine.

Limni Pier

Our first port of call was Limni Pier. This was surprisingly busy, with lots of people having a splosh off the side. In fact, the car park was nearly full when we got there, which is unusual. So we drove towards Latsi instead.

Bzzzzzz...

There is a nice little beach near Latsi which we like. However, on this occasion, the shower was surrounded by hornets. You can see a couple on the wood, if you look carefully. They are only there for the water, and won't sting you, but as one of our party is allergic to wasp and hornet stings, we thought it best to go elsewhere.

Polis Municipal Beach

So instead we went up to Polis Municipal Beach. Now, here the main carpark was pretty much full. However, next to it is a much bigger carpark, and that was empty. So we parked there and had a look around.

Empty Spaces

Given the amount of cars in the car park, I was surprised how empty the beach was. I can only assume most people were still in the cafe having a late brekkie, as it was by now mid morning.

Anyway, we inspected the showers and found they had a similar issue with hornets, so we decided to head for Polis Campsite instead. I have to admit, I was quite enjoying getting the opportunity of visiting more than one beach on a visit, as it gave me more stuff to take pictures of.

Polis Campsite was full of tents. Indeed, they had even sprouted up in the area to the right of the campsite, next to the river. If you ever visit here in the off season, you could be forgiven for thinking that it was abandoned. However, during the holidays it comes to life and is a hive of activity.
