Agia Marina Cemetery
A Sad Story

Graveyards are of course, full of tragedies and lost love. But this grave turned out to be especially poignant. It was for a poor girl who died just before her 16th Birthday. I can't imagine how painful it must have been for her parents and family to have to say goodbye to their daughter just before she became an adult.
Rest in Peace.

Grand Design

If you want to visit this graveyard for yourself, you should take the road to Agia Marina Reservoir. You will see it signposted along the way.

Row Upon Row...

I think what surprised me most about this graveyard was its size. Given the remote location, I hadn't expected there to be so many graves from modern times. It must have quite a large catchment area.
Rest In Peace

What are your thoughts on visiting graveyards? I don't mean when you go to say hello to a loved one, but when you venture into one out of curiosity. Personally I find them very peaceful locations, where you can collect your thoughts no matter what Religion you may or may not follow.
After all, inscriptions on Gravestones aren't really for the family. They already know `who was buried there. They are to inform the world that somebody once lived, and was loved, and has left this little footprint behind.
