Geroskipou Bypass
Tyre Interlude

I found these past the Peugeot Garage. They seem an odd thing to feature in a blog, but a member of our Facebook Group - Paphos Chat - had been looking for a big old tyre to help with their fitness training. Well there are three here up for grabs.
But those rocks behind the tyres look interesting. Let's take a look up there.

Off Piste

We've gone a bit off track now. The bypass won't be coming up here, neither will the bin men, unfortunately. However, if you have got a couple of hourse to spare, and want to pretend you are in the Akamas, you could come up here and go for a wander. You will have to walk through a bit of litter, which has presumably blown there in the wind, but once you get to the rocks themselves they are fun to explore.
The Fun To Explore Rocks

I came here a year or two ago and climbed to the top of the ridge. I saw a rather large hare up there, which was a bit of a surprise, and I had fun climbing back down further along. But there is a reason this ridge doesn't feature in any of the guide books. It ain't that special.
Back To The Road

Returning to the main road, this building caught my eye. It looked suspiciously like it was abandoned.
Warehouse Party?

Indeed it was. Now it was slowly become an art gallery for graffiti artists.
Graffiti gets a lot of stick, and quite right too. Inappropriate tags do nothing for an area save to advertise the painter's stupidity. However, when channeled properly, the obvious talent can produce the masterpieces that adorn some of the walls of Old Town, and other Cyprus cities. Both Limassol and Ayia Napa have impressive examples of street ART.
Anyway, an old warehouse like this is ideal because it gives the aspiring graffiti artists a place to practice their craft without making a mess.

A Geroskipou Mini Mystery
After our last blog of the strange monument near Mandria, we were delighted with the response, so we thought we would post these pictures of another forgotten site, this time in the heart of Geroskipou. Did anybody work on this site in the past, and if so, can they say why excavation work seems to have halted mid dig?
Geroskipou Sculpture Park
As part of Pafo2017, a new Sculpture Park was commissioned in Geroskipou. Inspired by local history, legends and traditions, ten Cypriot and foreign sculptors have created on-site works drawing on the history of the area and, in this way, leaving behind them the traces of the European Capital of Culture. That's what the blurb says anyway. So what are they like?Good Pages To Visit
