So what happens when a reservoir overflows? Well, a river reappears in front of it. Very quickly, it will look like it has always been there, as vegetation and topsoil are washed downstream. Too much water, and whole tracks can be uprooted. In April we took a trip from the Asprokremmos to the ocean, to see what nature had been up to.

Love Is Like A Butterfly

Now this wasn't typical. Every spring butterflies migrate from North Africa to Europe. In 2019 they arrived en-masse in Paphos. They were everywhere. Clouds of them. If you drove your car from Polemi to Paphos it would look orange by the time you arrived. It was a magical sight, and I can't wait for them to appear again.Read The Blog

Village Life

If you hire a car while on holiday, you should make a point of going out and exploring some villages. They are fascinating places, filled with charm. And the taverns you find along the route will almost invariably serve up delicious food at a very reasonable price. You do get the odd kiosk as well, but you might want to stock up with a few bottles of water first, just to be on the safe side.

Of course, the best way to explore Cyprus is with the help of one of our Road Trip ebooks. We published our second one in May 2019. It takes you from Paphos to Polis and back, and visits a host of tourist favourites - like Sea Caves - along the way. Plus it includes rustic villages, ancient monuments, stunning scenery, and there is even an abandoned village to explore.

We have started on our third Road Trip, which will cover the Pomos region. However, thanks to COVID, work on that has been a bit slow. Watch this space...
